Simplifying Complicated Form

Image
Are all of our end-users lazy? No ❌ ( maybe some ), they just want things to go easy for them to use. They like simplified things. Lesser time spent on doing things = more time to do other things. We live in the IT era where  working smart is the new work hard . So, as the product designers, we need to make our product outsmart the intended user's expectations 🧠📈.  Today I will share my process of simplifying a complicated-looking form into a simpler one. The original structure is the exact requirements and was designed by the client themself. Ideally, a module should be relevant to all other clients, instead of just fitting a single client. So, to satisfy all stakeholders we need to audit the client's requirements, audit them out, question the reasons why❓, and point out any peculiarity before coming out with an improved UX and UI for their request. Disclaimer: YES. I KNOW. UX-wise, it is a sin 🚫 to use a modal dialog to host hi-stake and complex processes [ context ]. I ...

WeatherÜ App - Weather App for Me and Ü (Production + Reflection)

Image
The lockdown initiative made by the Malaysian government really made us bored, a lil bit empty and sad (because I never get separated this long from my family and cats, and cows) and also made me clueless about what to do since I am not a homebody. One way to avoid loneliness and keep me busy so that I can distract myself from those feelings is by being productive doing something. And in this case, I collaborated with my friend, Alex Chan to build this weather app . And I can say that I really need to do this app, I was in a desperate need of a short gateway project from doing another complicated UI/UX project for my day job. You know, working in an agency when one single project took more than 6 months, and it is the sole project that you're working on, you'll start to feel mundane. And you can't go out travel to refresh/reset your mind because of the Corona lockdown. That is when I decided, 'Yo, let's do this shit!'. I like to illustrate. It k...

UI/UX Process—How I Get Things Done

Image
Things are not that quick and straightaway pretty like those Daily UI challenge posts you see on Dribbble. But yeah, you can refer to Dribbble to seek inspirations; we all do that to feed our brains tho. My solid principle: beautiful UI mobile app, SaaS or even web design is a disgrace without a beautiful seamless UX. Currently, I am working for a digital agency, where the project's pace is a bit different from working in-house (I also got 2 years of experience working in-house, okay!). The clients usually don't have the idea of a proper UI/UX process and they want to achieve product completion fast, but for sure they demand some kind of standard they want to grasp. To comply with this, things are quite rushed most of the time. We work in an agile environment where the beginning of project kick-off, sprints, beta phase until the project launch feels like a challenging triathlon, but more enjoyable and fulfilling than the real one. Clickbait-ish intro. The Para...

Sketch KL Meetup Dec 2019

This was freaking 2 months ago. But I just put it here,  just in case my employer or my future employer (pffft..) ever stalk me, so they'll know that I am exposed to this kinda knowledge-sharing event. Honestly, I'm hooked into this gig of going to knowledge-sharing events. I swear, I would mind going to any of this kinda event in the SEA region if my wallet is sufficient enough to take me there. This event was held on 20th Dec 2019 at Digi HQ, Subang. I was glad to drive my team there, as my previous dream freelance job was to be a grab driver — since I love driving tho the traffic to reach there was hella bad. Kelsey my co-driver said, I am the first non-grab driver friend without driving temper — I felt flattered and my motivation to be a good driver increased 100%. I am also planned to attend this with my university friend, Aisyah and Diana. We might also be expecting to see our senior, Kak Nasuha. I heard she's working with Digi, here. The best thing...
