How My Axia Car Relates to My Career — And The Psychology Behind It

Image
Stereotypically in Malaysia, Perodua Axia is labeled as the cheapest car for university students, B40s, and underpaid workers. This car is an economical icon 🚗 that serves the purpose of getting you from point A to B. Despite the stereotypes, I drive one with the main character's energy 🔥. I am very proud 😎 to drive a 2016 Manual Transmission White Perodua Axia SE.  I named my Axia 小白 (Xiao Bai) literally means Lil' White I am emotionally attached to this car and had no 🚫 plan to upgrade. Zettai ni!  There will always be voices that tryna brainwash and influence me to upgrade to a better car. My aunt said the bigger, the more branded the vehicle will make you more respectable. Yes. I don't deny that we humans are mentally biased to associate the finer things in life with higher life status. My neighbor also compared me with my other neighbor that works as a petrol pump cashier but owns a Suzuki Swift. Meh, who cares? People care a lot about other people while lacking th...

Setting Up a Habit is Easy, But Making Them Stick – Hard AF

Image
I planned to blog consistently this year, perhaps monthly. But it turns out to be easier to plan than to execute. Why? I used to post my writings weekly during my university days. Sadly, as time goes by I started to have high standards and expectations regarding what I wanted to write and post. I want all my content to have a certain level of new knowledge/benefits that would impress me if I were the reader. In order to do so, I need to read more articles and studies; eventually costing me more time — which nowadays I don't have the luxury of. Sigh. Who sets the rule for my post to be self-impressive? Me . Are the readers' levels of 'This is Impressive' as same as mine?  Not sure . Then why should I care much about how other people perceive my writings? Logically speaking, I am the one that ruins the fun of this writing habit.  I'm the one that did this to myself . I have plenty of drafts. Rereading them made me hate myself. But probably I should stop caring too muc...

Career Tips — How to be a Happy Salaryman

Image
Sorry for the spoiler, I assume at this rate all should be well-informed that our beloved jaded guy, Nanami died a heroic death. Such a pity for a daddy character like him to go wasted, what's important, our finest guy, Gojo is still there. Nevertheless, I am going to share some career tips to make you (hopefully) stay happy. DISCLAIMER Psychologically speaking writing, my tips are only legible and relatable for those that are working on the career that you've majored in during your university/college days. For example, you've studied IT and worked with an IT company once you graduated. Then, yes — This post is for you. If you're studying IT and then ended up being a fashion designer, maybe you can only relate to this 20-30%. Congratulation! You are among the few Malaysians that are lucky enough to score a job that you (maybe) are passionate about. Be grateful that during these pandemic days you're not being thrown away to other industries like F&B, hospitali...

Live Fast, Die Young

Image
This is going to be short, just some rantings. But sometimes (low-key every time) I get sick, I'll be under the impression of I'm going to live fast die young .    No lie, I bought 2 life insurance policies from 2 different companies, along with my medical card plan because of this shit running in my blood. I've been living with this high white blood count since finishing my highschool. Now, I've been putting up with this for 11 years already. Every time the count hikes up for no reason, I'll be burning up 38°C++ to 40°C, tremoring as fuck and it is damn annoying.  My results from my complete blood test these 3 months. WBC  – white blood count, Gran#  – granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils), Lym% – my lymphocyte is also low most of the time, lol. – I got A for my SPM's Bio 😏 Every time I dropped by the clinic, they'll do the blood test because they already knew something's wrong when you're on a fever without any flu symptoms. I actual...

Answering Random Question – August 2021

Image
I haven't posted anything since January 2021. So, I made an IG story to ask people to ask me. So, Q1: Mcm mana ko stay motivated - D You will die. And you won't know when, where and how. Aku selalu fikir, akan banyak benda yang aku menyesal bila mati, welp, macam time yang aku tak optimizekan utk be happy and buat benda yang beneficial utk aku, badan aku and orang lain yang layak.  Aku tahu time-time pandemik ni akan buat orang terperam kat rumah, WFH, overloaded dengan kerja office + kerja2 housewife kalau dah married, tapi kau kena ingat, time won't wait. Dia tak tunggu kau sedih ke, depressed ke, dia jalan terus. So, do something. Be productive, hobi yg beneficial ke, workout ke utk kesihtan, belajar skills baru ke, masak ke. Aku tengok drama/movie jugak, tapi aku limit masa. Dapat apa je layan drama non-stop? Tapi medical knowledge tengok drama medical korea useful jugaklah. As for how I stay motivated to cycle for kilometers daily, sebabnya;   Basikal aku mahal...

WeatherÜ App - Weather App for Me and Ü (Production + Reflection)

Image
The lockdown initiative made by the Malaysian government really made us bored, a lil bit empty and sad (because I never get separated this long from my family and cats, and cows) and also made me clueless about what to do since I am not a homebody. One way to avoid loneliness and keep me busy so that I can distract myself from those feelings is by being productive doing something. And in this case, I collaborated with my friend, Alex Chan to build this weather app . And I can say that I really need to do this app, I was in a desperate need of a short gateway project from doing another complicated UI/UX project for my day job. You know, working in an agency when one single project took more than 6 months, and it is the sole project that you're working on, you'll start to feel mundane. And you can't go out travel to refresh/reset your mind because of the Corona lockdown. That is when I decided, 'Yo, let's do this shit!'. I like to illustrate. It k...

Selective Selfishness is OKAY!

Image
I am sorry if I ever hurt anyone by being me. This is just my point of view. Sharing UI/UX tips, science insights, life hacks; OK. I'm fine when I need to share intangible assets. You need my time? Sure, I can spend time listening to you, as long as you're not abusing it. I want to go to the supermarket within my own scheduled time, and you also want to buy something? Sure, I can tag you along and drive you. You want to use my car? NO! But I am willing to drive you places, as long as you don't set your feet on my pedals. You want to sit on my bed? NO! You want to use my phone? NO! (unless I am requesting you—probably a Dev to stage the app on my device, or you're a close family member, my best friends or someone who urgently needs it). Want to borrow my clothes? Similar concept, I can allow it if you're my best friends, my mom or my siblings—Other than that, NO! Yes, Sharing is caring, the more you give, the more you'll get back—But we all should put a ...

Realist Talk: I Don't Necessarily Need to be Obsessed with UI/UX although I am a UI/UX Designer.

Image
I am talking the real deal now. In the mean time, I am sort of a senior designer that people will ask around to give some UI/UX advices. BUT, it turns out that I am not socially reflecting that UI/UX vibe on my literal & social media sites. A boomer once directly asked me on why didn't I share about UI/UX on my blog or IG posts, fronting me with the question "You aren't passionate enough with UI/UX, right?" Yo. Define 'Passion'. Passion (noun) = strong and barely controllable emotion. For me, UI/UX is a multi-disciplinary processes from the phase of planning, designing until after the post-implementation of a product. <- Can I control my emotion over seeing a bad product due to its poor establishment of UI/UX aspects? Barely. I hate apps and sites that don't give me a smooth-sailing start. I despise apps that doesn't care much about user's experience – despicable. Okay, tbh, I can tolerate ugly UI design (maybe 30% of my toler...
